Turkish-Greek sea travel is experiencing a significant easing in the 2026 season. Procedures have been simplified on the Bodrum–Rhodes route for both regular ferry services and private boat crossings.

Transit Document Process

Transit log approval, which could previously take days, can now be obtained within 24–48 hours through an online system. Bodrum Harbour Master's new digital platform has accelerated applications.

On the Rhodes side, the capacity of Mandraki Harbour has been expanded. Areas allocated for charter boats have been reorganised.

Where Can You Cross?

The direct Bodrum–Rhodes route is the most commonly used crossing. Approximately 45 nautical miles, 3–4 hours by motor yacht. The Marmaris–Rhodes route is an alternative; particularly preferable depending on wind conditions.

The Kaş–Meis (Kastellorizo) route is ideal for short crossings — just 2 nautical miles. However, customs and port capacity at Meis are limited.

Practical Information

Documents required for crossing: Transit log, insurance, crew list, guest list (with passport details). Rhodes Mandraki or Kos Marina can be chosen as the port of entry.

The sea of two countries is inseparable. It is only a form that separates them.
